When the International Monetary Fund (IMF) say Sri Lanka is at risk, the government is going to increase its revenue by imposing a household tax Recently we could hearsay that IMF would never give loan except to president Ranil Wickramasinghe and he is only capable of taking a loan from IMF
Uncomfortably there is a simple truth in it because Ranil Wickramasinghe is a person who is not afraid of taking loans. He is only capable of taking loans and selling national assets belonging to the people.
This drum was continuously beaten by pro Ranil Pohottuwa MP Shehan Semasinghe and Ranjith Siyambalapitiya while kicking off their previous leader Mahinda Rajapaksa
By beating around the bush it was also said that the IMF does not like holding an election when the country just recovered from bankruptcy. If an election were held the country would totally collapse from where we are now, therefore we should allow the country to move forward without an election.
IMF head Peter Brewer answered all these questions during a press conference. He said
“We don’t care about anyone who comes to office through an election. Whoever comes to power tells us to change the IMF agreement we are ready to discuss for any change. We respect the democracy of Sri Lanka and we are concerned about who comes to office in the next election , that is the rights of the Sri Lankan public. We don’t have any problems.
Further he said the current tax policies cannot be changed. If it is changed or decreased the government revenue will come down and it would lead to a terrible problem.
However it is confirmed that the IMF giving credits only to Ranil is a false perception. Therefore the government should hold elections on the correct day
Ranil Wickramasinghe always says after receiving the third IMF tranche he would discuss with other creditors who have lend money to Sri Lanka and get our country out from bankruptcy.
“Next week we have the Official Creditors Committee (OCC) meeting. We meet the creditors who have officially given loans to us. After the meeting we expect a good answer from them, If everything goes well we have an opportunity to get rid from the bankrupt situation”
What is really bankrupt ?
Our economy got collapsed in such a way that we are not able to pay the credit and the interest installments
According to Ranil Wickramasinghe, do we have money to pay the credit and the interest amount from next month ?
After getting the third IMF tranche will our economy become steady as said by Ranil Wickramasinghe ?
Peter Brewer gave an answer for that too
“He said the Sri Lanka economy is still at risk” That means we have not crossed the vine bridge as said by President Ranil Wickramasinghe
Except taking loans, selling national assets and imposing taxes there is no other revenue for the government. These are the revenues and the development we have gained after Ranil Wickramasinghe took over the country
What has happened to the tea industry which brings revenue to our country ? The tea industry has collapsed and the tea production has been stalled. The apparel industry too has fallen. The number of tourists who come to our country has been reduced due to the increment of VFS visa charges. Only the foreign remittances sent by the domestic foreign workers spared
All these lies and fake talks such as we are getting out of bankruptcy and crossing the vine bridge are said to deceive the people in the coming election. The money allocated for certain projects in the recent budget too are utilized but used for the election campaign.
Now the IMF is going to impose a new tax on our houses, very soon our household would be charged by a special tax.
However IMF did not impose this household tax at the first , IMF said they are proposing to impose a tax on properties, properties include money and income
When imposed taxes on properties who would be caught, it is the politicians and the thieves who do business with the government.
The thieves who accumulated wealth got scared of this and surreptitiously undermined the tax imposed on properties and allowed them to impose the taxes on houses belonging to the poor masses.
The poor common man is even more burdened, squeezed, blood sucked with IMF taxes. This is how Ranil Wickramasinghe and his Rajapaksa legislature are going to increase the government revenue and plunder that income as well.
In this coming election people are going not only to defeat this group of thieves but to send them behind bars.
