According to the reports received to Lanka Sky News, Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakon is trying to resign from the post of IGP and leave the country.
Sky news learns that a case against Tennakon is pending in the Supreme Court and the verdict in that case is scheduled to be given on 24 this month
According to the report, the Supreme Court has already given a verdict that the Inspector General of Police is a person who has violated human rights hence Tennakon is trying to leave the country because there is a risk of losing his IGP position due to the case pending before the Supreme Court that the appointment of Tennakon as the post of Inspector General is illegal.
Tennakon’s close relationship with the Rajapaksas was a special qualification to receive the post of Inspector General of Police. According to the report, there is an attempt of him to leave the post and go to another country because it is not possible to serve in the position of IGP due to political support if he loses his position due to the case being heard by the Supreme Court.
