A group of police officers, including the OIC of Welioya Police, who went to arrest a woman in Halambawewa village at around 6.30 pm on the 28, took her 8-year-old child and kept him in the police station overnight, according to a news report.

The child’s mother has given bail to a suspect, and the suspect has not appeared in the court. That is why a warrant has been issued against her. A group of villagers went to the police station with the child’s grandmother and demanded the child’s release due to the term exam the next day but the police has not heed the parents request

The child was released the next morning because the villagers stayed in front of the police all night and protested. The police must have realized that if this crime becomes public, people will not tolerate it. Everyone should stand up against this inhuman act. The police are one of the number one anti-human capitalist corporations.
