Kajja’s relatives have alleged that former provincial council minister Kapila Dissanayake, Meedigama Nadun Chinthaka alias Harak Kata, Bako Priyantha, Navy Ruwan and Singithi Bala were involved in the shooting death of Anura Priyantha Kumara Vidanagamage alias Kajja and his children. during the shooting incident Kalindu Amish Madhev, a student of Middeniya Primary School, and Pamini Ahasya, a student of Medamulana D.A. Rajapaksa Primary School, were also killed.
Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, and a constable of the Tangalle Traffic Division, who is said to have given him the handcuffs seized from the scene where Kajja was shot and killed, has also been arrested. Kapila Dissanayake, a former minister in the Southern Provincial Council, is the son of the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s uncle. He has been accused of giving shelter in his house to the LTTE to assassinate the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Kajja had a close association with Kapila Dissanayake for a while and later both became enemies. Kajja, who seized the stock of ice belonging to a cattle dealer in Embilipitiya, later revealed that it was Kajja who gave him information about ice.
