The Human Rights Commission summons the STF officers who kidnapped and hid Kapila Kumara
The complaint filed by MNK Jayasekara was taken before the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission was taken today (12) at 9.30 am for examination about her son, Gonapinuwala Kapilakumara de Silva, was abducted in Anuradapura Horowpotana and kept hidden by the organized crime prevention unit attached to the special task force officers of Jayawardenapura camp.
Both the petitioner and the respondents were summoned for the hearing.
Respondents Special Task Force Sub-Inspector D.D.A. Bandara, Police Sergeant 13072 Saliya, Constable 76075 Ketagalla, Police Constable 78549 Indika, Police Constable 79412 Gunawardena, Police Constable 83382 Yakupitiya and Police Constable Driver 80729 Kumara will come to the Human Rights Commission today (12) to give statements.
Kapila Kumara was abducted on March 27 at around 6 in the evening in Horowpotana town in Anuradhapura and detained in a secret place for about 25 days, blindfolded and tortured. The officers have admitted that they kidnapped Kapila Kumara on March 27 and kept him detained.
The Prisoner’s Rights Protection Committee will file a case against the Special Task Force officers under International Law No. 05 of 2018 against forcibly abducting a person and keeping him in detention.
