Wilgama Mudiyanselage Danushka Saman Kumara, who was arrested and remanded on suspicion for revealing confidential information held by the Police Special Task Force and having links with organized crime groups, was produced before the court on November 5th was ordered to remanded until 11 November by the Kilinochchi Magistrate.

The Magistrate, who said that it is not possible to keep a suspect in custody without a clear charge, has also informed the CID that if the CID fails to present the charges by November 11, the suspect will be released. With the arrest of Saman Kumara, Neth FM Balumgala channel revealed about him under the caption  “The secrets of massive betrayal how Saman Kumara halted STF operation from within”.

Saman Kumara joined the Police Special Task Force (STF) on January 10, 2014 and was attached to the State Intelligence Service for four years until 2019. At the time of his arrest, Saman Kumara was attached to the Kilinochchi Police Special Task Force platoon.

Saman Kumara was arrested on October 27 and on October 29, a group of officers from the Kegalle Rambukkana Police Special Task Force brigade searched his partly built house in the Polhena area in Kegalle. His mother, Somawathi (63), said when the writer went there, the officials who had gone to the Wilgama Bogahawatta area of Saman Kumara’s main house, searched the house and took away only an official uniform belonging to the Special Task Force.

Saman Kumara’s father is Wilgama Mudiansela’s Piyadasa (68) and he is the father of three boys. He works as a hired laborer and Saman Kumara is the first child of that family. One of the other two children is abroad and the other child is also working in this country. Saman Kumara has passed GCE ordinary level, advanced level and has joined the Special Task Force while pursuing an external degree at Kelaniya University. He is unmarried.

Saman Kumara was arrested not because of his relationship with organized criminal groups, but because of his friendship with the wife of Indika Prabath who was brutally murdered by the Police Special Task Force. Saman Kumara has been hated by many officials including DIG Varuna Jayasundara, head of the Police Special Task Force, because of the Facebook page allegedly run by Saman Kumara under the name of “Sri Lanka underworld”.

Fake media outlets including Neth FM Balumgala, which depend on the Police Special Task Force and the heads of that force, and spies working in those institutions said that Saman Kumara had revealed the secrets of the Police Special Task Force, but he lied without revealing what the secrets were.

While attached to the State Intelligence Service, Saman Kumara was frequently involved in combating drugs and organized crimes. In addition to operations carried out on the basis of information from informants in combating drug trafficking and the underworld, another method is to collect information from those who infiltrate the networks and behave as underworld members. We have heard the experiences of officers who have even joined in incidents such as murders and robberies to win the hearts of the leaders of those networks. The public should condemn the unethical and illegal actions of the heads of the Police Special Task Force using the media they maintain to take disciplinary action against those officers or to smear them for their activities.

Saman Kumara, a sub-inspector attached to the State Intelligence Division who joined the Jathika Hela Urumaya party, which was formed under the leadership of former minister Campika Ranawaka, has also served as the convener of the anti-terrorist national movement that was formed against the Tamil people. It is also reported that he was involved in the Shah Rukh Khan bombing incident, bombing of Christian churches and attacking Sinhala-Tamil art festivals. This was revealed when Champika Ranawaka participated in the National Security Committee meeting instead of former President Maithripala Sirisena during the Yahapalana government. We are not revealing the name of that intelligence officer because it is of no importance to anyone other than that party.

Was the audio recording clips of Saman Kumara threatening underworld members, demanding money and the audio recording clips containing conversations about underworld activities obtained from his phone, or was it taken from Welle Saranga or Batuwatte Chamara ? Who gave the audio recording against Saman Kumara. Meanwhile, Batuwatte Chamara tells Saman to kill a person. Then Saman says that he does not have any weapons. Chamara tells Saman that he will give him as many weapons if he can to come to our side. Instead of looking for Chamara’s weapons, Neth FM Balumgala and the Special Task Force (STF)  have used Chamara against Saman Kumara.

Not only do we lack credibility regarding the information revealed by Chamika that Saman Kumara committed while he was a member of the Police Special Task Force, but we do not stand by the actions he took against the general public while he was a member of the Police Special Task Force while protecting the rulers.

Waruna Jayasundara starts hunting down Saman Kumara after he suggests to Chamika that they do a program on Indika Prabath. In the audio recording of Saman Kumara talking to Chamika, the police inspector asks where STF inspector Kolombage is hiding and tries to get information about him. Chamika tries to trap Saman but he slips. Chamika belittles him by asking why he cannot find Kolombage’s whereabouts when he talks about Pol Kavaiya, and many others. Chamika has given all the audio recordings of Saman’s conversations to Waruna Jayasundara and betrayed him. Not only did he give the audio recordings to Jayasundara, but he has also blatantly violated media ethics by broadcasting them through Neth FM Balumgala.

While Saman Kumara was in custody, neth FM Belumgala aired  a biased program against him in favor of STF head Waruna Jayasundara and for his interest. When publishing a news item, it is mandatory to inquire about the views of the other party related to that news item, and it is more correct to inquire about the information and the necessary documents and publish the opinion of the party connected, which shows a more correct media practice. It is against media ethics and the existing law for Neth FM Balumgala to air or publish a program without confirming that it is Saman’s voice

The Lanka Sky News exposed not only the Police Special Task Force but also the Police and the general security forces, committing crimes against the general public, human rights violations, drug traffickers and contract killings for the interests of underworld groups and politicians. In particular, we revealed that the Police Special Task Force (STF) is  given contracts by underworld groups in two or three cases. We also revealed that the murder of Embilipitiye Podi Indika alias Prabath Indika was for an underworld contract.

Neth FM Belumgala by crucifying Saman Kumara has caused the Police Special Task Force to lose its credibility. If the story about Saman Kumara is true as claimed by Belumgala, shows not only Saman Kumara but the entire brigade has fallen. Neth FM Belumgala has confirmed that our revelations about the Special Task Force are completely correct.
