Media Workers’ Federation calls on the government to bring justice to journalists who have been killed, disappeared and assaulted

The Media Workers’ Trade Union Federation held a protest demonstration in front of the Fort Railway Station on 30 January evening under the title “Black July” demanding that the National People’s Forces government provide justice to journalists who were murdered, abducted, disappeared and assaulted by the previous capitalist governments.

A significant number of leaders and members of the Young Journalists’ Association, civil society organizations and trade union organizations participated in the protest.

The journalists held placards with slogans such as “Justice for the murdered, disappeared and assaulted journalists! Abolish  Online Safety Act (OSA) File indictments against Lasantha’s killers!” and staged a silent protest.

At the end of the protest, the protesters lit candles and commemorated the murdered and disappeared journalists.

Protesters are calling on the government to immediately arrest and bring to justice for those who killed, disappeared, and assaulted journalists.
