Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

By – Azgar Nuhman

How Islam was during the Golden Islamic era ? Islam reinterpreted

Can a person take ownership of Islam by birth and call him a Muslim by the pronouncement of shahada?

A community or a group of people who belong to a religion accept its dogmas, take ownership of the religion by birth or by the pronouncement kalima shahada, call him a Muslim and consider all other children of God as different, outcast,  inferior and separate. They  follow the fundamental guidelines of its religion and start to divide, segregate and outcast a community following another religion based on their belief, Sharia and sunnah.

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

They fail to realize there is one wisdom and one single truth uniting all mankind but variety of different ways of understandings, variety of expressions, variety of rituals but one way of REALIZATION (annihilation of the false ego)

They think they are chosen and privileged to be born in islam and others not. They fail to realize that all mankind is bonded by humanity and children of God

They consider my religion the best, my Allah is superior to your God, my prophet is special than yours, and my religious disciplines are better than yours. We Muslims sin less than you, we worship one God and you worship many Gods.I am disciplined, my community is more disciplined than yours, our community is less prone to sins than you because you don’t follow any disciplines

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

Religious disciplines, theories, religious principles, reading Quranic verses, praising and glorifying God or his messenger, listening and learning the tales and stories of sahabas  cannot bring or cultivate consciousness or righteousness within a man

but a man with consciousness would be led towards disciplines

We are entitled to jannah, not to your heaven because we are believers of Allah and we are chosen as Muslims, others cannot enter jannah because you believe a God other than Allah and you don’t accept prophet muhammed (pbuh) as our messenger.

If a non muslim need to go to heaven, he have to convert as a Muslim and embrace Islam, believe in Allah and accept our prophet Muhammed (pbuh) as the last messenger

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

By doing so they lose the very seed of wisdom for whose development that religion was created . This error has existed from the beginning, so that instead of touching the true spirit, people have lost reality by seeking a false objective.

Religious differences have caused endless wars and disasters for the human race. The reason for this is that the spirit of unity (oneness) has not been recognized, while undue regard has been paid to uniformity of groups. In the present age, when the spirit of religion is at its highest ebb and only the uniformity remains, divisions of classes, sectors and discords of all kinds spring up; one party, one class against another, one religion against another, the spirit of rivalry, jealousy, rivalry, superiority and destruction everywhere. The effect of this has kept  man away from the Realization of God.

Very few indeed recognize and try to REALIZE God; all humanity is laboring under a great unrest; and yet man thinks he is progressing practicing a religion while all the time he only progresses towards still a greater unrest.

Meantime a man, a wise man (A man with wisdom) realizes that the fundamental basis of all religions and beliefs is one: Haq, or one truth.

The truth has always been covered by two garments: a turban on the head, and a robe upon the body. The turban is made of mystery known as MYSTICISM (wisdom),and the robe is made of morality, which is called religion. Truth has been covered (hidden) thus by all of the prophets and saints, in order to hide it from ignorant eyes (shallow followers), and glib mouths, as yet too undeveloped to bear it in its naked form.

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

Those who see the truth uncovered, abandon reason and logic, good and bad, high and low, new and old; differences and distinctions of names and forms fades away, and the whole universe is realized as nothing other than Haq (truth) – knowledge without doubt = wisdom

Truth is not an expression but a REALIZATION

Truth in its realization is one; in its representation it is many, since its revelations are made under varying conditions of time and space. As water in a fountain flows in one stream but falls in many drops, divided by time and space,

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

So are the revelations of the one stream of truth. Not everyone can easily comprehend the idea of different truths being derived from ONE SINGLE TRUTH. Common sense has been so narrowly perceived in this world of VARIETY that it naturally fails to realize the breadth and subtlety of a spiritual fact so far beyond the reach of its limited knowledge in this world with doubts.

Man takes pleasure in thinking and feeling, ‘I am different from you; you are different from me’ . We are different from others in nationality, race, creed, discipline and in religion.\

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

In animals this feeling is still more pronounced. But as man evolves, his tendency is to unite, to become one (oneness) , not to divide

Did Mesiah Jesus Christ come to form an exclusive community called Christian or Lord Buddha to found a creed called Buddhism? or Lord Krishna came from a superior community called Hindu, Or was it Prophet Muhammad’s ideal to form a community called Islam ?

On the contrary, the Prophets warned his disciples that they should not attach his name to his message, but that it should be called Islam, the Message of peace.

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

Whoever has achieved peace, whoever does not harm his fellowmen, who considers serving  another fellowmen in conscience as his duty, who spreads love,  harmony and peace entitles to be in Islam and call a Muslim not otherwise.

The word stated in the Quran as believers is referred to a “Purified soul” not to a person who has inherited Islam by birth, pronounced kalima as taught or following fundamental religious guidelines as a religious discipline

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

Lets be rational

A believer is a person who does not sin

an unbeliever is a person who sin

There cannot a person who call him a believer but sin repeatedly as a routine and repent continuously

God cannot forgive or pardon your sins and give rewards , there is no such transaction of God and man

All your transactions are with your fellowmen

How consciously and righteously you treat your fellowmen , your belief is strong

In religion islam every follower is called a Muslim and a true follower is called a moomin but in spiritual islam only a “true follower” is entitled to be called or labelled or given a title as a muslim

The question arises , when does a soul become a Muslim ?

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

None of the masters, prophets and messengers came with the thought of forming an exclusive community, or to give a certain religion. They came with the same message from one and the same God. Whether the message was compiled in Sanskrit, Hebrew, Zend, Aramic or Arabic, it had one and the same meaning. The differences between religions are external but all their inner meanings are one.

Prophet Jesus never spoke of Christianity, Prophet Muhammed never spoke about Islam, Prophet buddha never spoke about Buddhism, Prophet Venkatesh and Krishna never spoke about Hinduism

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

They all preached attributes of humanity, a heavenly journey based on love, peace, unity and harmony

Names are just metaphors

God has one law , that is the law of nature and God has only one organization , that is LOVE

Each and every human born in any religion is a unique creation, imbued with certain specific potentials which are available to ripen, blossom and flower in their own time and in their own manner.

The fabric of one’s own life is interwoven with all of creation. We are not independently separated group, community or an independent creatures which the ego imagines, but rather we are the interwoven threads of a majestic tapestry woven by unseen hands

Religion is the ordinary sense of the word, as known by the world is the creeds. There are not many religions in the world, but there are many creeds.

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

What does creed mean?

Creed means a cover over the religion.  There is one religion and there are many covers.

Each of these covers is called ‘Christianity,’ ‘Buddhism,”Judaism’  ‘Islam’Hinduism, Anglicans, protestants, Evangeliche, Roman catholic, orthodox, sunni, shia, salafi, wahabi, thawhid, and all denominations belong to all religions etc., Each of these covers had a special purpose to fulfill a particular period of human evolution.

When you take off these covers, you will find that there is only one religion, and it is that religion, which is the religion of the heart.

At the same time, a human who is spiritual does not condemn a church, a temple, a mosque or any creed or a certain form of rituals and worship. He says it is the world of VARIETY

All humans living in any part of the world must have his choice of food, his choice of dress, his choice of expressions and his choice of worship.

Why must the followers of one faith think that the others are heathens or pagans?

A follower must not think that only his religion is superior to others and only his God is greater than yours, If any human comprehends as such, which means he is ignorant and does not simply know the hidden truth.  It is the same creator who created all humans separately, differently and independently belonging to different religions, creeds and philosophies. That same creator will never create a human or group to be superior or privileged to another group.

Who is a muslim ? Who is referred to as a Muslim in the Quran? A spiritual perception

Your birth or your fundamental guidelines belong to a certain creed  or the pronouncement of kalima cannot decide your religion but the inner spirit should decide your souls eternity sooner or later

A group of people belonging to a religion should not comprehend that they are lucky to be born to a specific religion and others not. If that is so, it would be a privilege to that group

Every man who follows a religion or does not follow a religion , religious or irreligious , muslim or non muslim, has a potential right to reach God.

Every human being consciously or unconsciously has a plan with the supreme being called allah, God, Bagwan, kadavul, Iraiwan,  Bramma or Shangdi in Japanese

Religious followers should not be overwhelmed, excited or panic reading the hadith that says that you have a duty given by God to preach islam to non muslims and correct them to follow the right path.

That is not the task entrusted to you by God

The task entrusted to you on earth is to know God , to know God within you

The right path preached by great masters and teachers are nothing but humanity

As it is said in the Quran, there is no compulsion in the religion, the right is clearly distinguished from the wrong – Quran 2.256

The right indicates not the fundamental religious guidelines (disciplines) belong to a community but the ultimate achievement of all mankind , that is consciousness

to be sincere, to be modest , to be peaceful, to be content, to voice against injustice, to be selfless , to be simple and to efface ego

All religions preach RIGHTEOUSNESS and CONSCIOUSNESS, not only Islam

Man can teach righteousness and consciousness to another man but it is not necessary for a man to teach or raise awareness about his religion to another person following another religion and say my religion has better discipline than yours because however discipline a man, how he behaves in a certain situation and circumstance matters.

Simply, religious disciplines cannot bring conscience or righteousness within a man but a man with consciousness would be lead towards religiousness

Consciously or unconsciously we all mankind follow one religion, only in different names, forms and rituals, but behind these names, forms and rituals, there is one and the same spirit, and there is one and the same truth. However they say the great almighty has created all humans equally, separately and individually.

He (God) will not create a group of people privileged to another. No religion preaches superiority. We all follow one religion, only in different names and different forms; but behind names and forms, there is one and the same spirit and there is one and the same hidden truth which is covered behind a world of variety.

If Allah wanted he could have made the entire world Islam and made everybody Muslims.

He did not do that for a reason.

He wanted to see how man, regardless religious divisions  serve mankind because  it is HIM who created us differently and individually

More than believing, worshiping, glorifying, praising and repenting to God  continuously as a routine, The purpose of man’s birth on earth is to serve another man and to elevate his soul from greediness to generosity

More than believing, worshiping, repenting , glorifying and praising God

Man is born on earth to serve another man

Man’s duty on earth is to serve another man

What is the purpose or the big deal in believing and worshiping a God if you cannot be righteous and be conscious to your fellow man?

However, many affirm that he strongly believe God but he himself knows his belief is not consistent because man sin continuously as a routine

Man’s God belief and his conscience towards his fellow being is binned together. It cannot be independent from the other

When man serve another man sincerely, modestly, peaceful in behaviour,  content in desires, raise his voice against an injustice, selfless in character, simple in appearance and suppress his ego, he unconsciously believe a deity

The task entrusted to man in this world  is not raised religious awareness (dhawwa) to a man following another religion and say my Allah is better than your God and my prophet is special than yours

That is not the task entrusted to him

The task entrusted to man is to know God

To purify our evil soul and merge in union with the holy spirit (God)

He (God) did not create us but He fashioned, molded and manifested man by his own image (image less) and blew his spirit into man and made man “ashrafal makhluat”, the highest of all beings and the pride of the universe.

With all his grace he has given all the attributes of humanity only to humans (not to animals) to be sincere, to be modest , to be peaceful, to be content, to be conscience against injustice, to be selfless, to be simple, to differentiate good and bad, moral and immoral, ethical and unethical and to suppress his pride and annihilate his ego , as a result it is only humans (not to animals) who can attain spirituality (to know God) by battling with his own ego

To know HIM within you because HIS spirit is already within us closer to us than our jugular vein – Quran 50.16

He who knows himself, knows his God – Spiritual sayings of Muhammad

Spiritually, the task of a man is to know his own self

He who knows himself knows me ( Allah) – spiritual Sayings of muhammed

The Kingdom of God is within you – The Gospel

Self knowledge is the greatest wisdom -Vendanta

Converting others to your religion or giving unsolicited awareness about your religion,  debating or quarreling to prove our path is the correct not yours are not the task entrusted to you.

The prophetic mission was intended to train the world gradually in divine wisdom according to its mental evolution, to impart this spiritual knowledge and wisdom to the mankind, according to his level of understanding, in forms suitable to various lands at different periods. This is why numerous different religions are still in existence, although the moral principles of all are the same.

Meantime Theoretical knowledge of religious laws, commands, religious principles  in nature is not sufficient for the highest REALIZATION.

Theoretical knowledge of a subject can never take the place of EXPERIENCE, which is necessary for REALIZATION.

Written music cannot entertain us unless it is played nor does the description of perfume delight our senses unless we smell it, no recipes of the most delicious dishes satisfy our hunger unless we gourmandise.

The theory of Allah (God), his commands and principles cannot give complete joy and peace; unless we actually REALIZE AND EXPERIENCE God’s attributes (attributes of humanity) or attain the state of REALIZATION which gives eternal happiness through the admiration and worship of nature’s beauty and its source.

If man had only understood this, the world would have avoided many wars, for war has mostly been caused by religion, religion which was formed to establish peace and harmony to the world, What a pity that war and disaster should come from the same source.

The Sufi message is a reminder to humanity, not to a community, a sector, to one nation but to all mankind; not to one community who follow, pomp and exaggerate their religious principles but to every creed. It is a reminder of the truth taught by all the great teachers of humanity that all religions are one, and that duality is only a delusion of human nature.

One important quality of the Quran is that it gives us only basic, fundamentals and essential principles, often resorting to reiteration to emphasize them. On the contrary, non basics, or matters relating to names, forms, expressions and rituals constitute only a negligible part of the scriptures. This is in consonance with the Quranic scheme, the importance of forms being entirely secondary.

To the Quran only those precepts are important which figure as fundamental guidelines. The aspect of the Quran is so clear that its reader cannot but appreciate it.

However the truth is that the “inner spirit” is of the utmost importance in the building of the Islamic personality. Once the “inner spirit’ (consciousness) is developed, correct form (disciplines) will naturally ensure.

But names, forms, expressions and rituals on its own can never produce the “inner spirit”. That is why the aim of the Quran is to initiate and bring to fruition an intellectual revolution within man.

The expression used by the Quran for this intellectual revolution is Maarifah (Realization of the truth (5.83)

The Quran stresses the importance of man’s discovery of truth(WISDOM) at the level of REALIZATION. True faith in God is what one achieves at such a level.

Where there is NO REALIZATION, there is NO TRUTH. When there is no TRUTH, there is NO BELIEF

However the meaning of the Quran differs to each person’s level of CONSCIENCE (Righteousness) not the level of Arabic language. This applies to the Islamic scholars as well because during the Golden Islamic era there were no religious scholars filled with knowledge but only spiritually enlightened souls who have gained wisdom

Moreover, God does not make decisions based on your fundamental guidelines (sharia and sunnah) belong to a community following a bunch of laws, commands, theories, principles and  tales ,stories of prophets and his sahabas (disciples)

God makes decisions based on your final achievement , how conscience you were to your fellowmen, because without being righteous and conscience to your fellow being, believing, worshiping, repenting and praising God and his messenger is not beneficial and cannot do much

Islam followers who are ignorant, unable to understand the esoteric meaning of the Quran described about the law of nature, follow the commands in the hadith books, takes the  symbolic and parable stories in the Quran in literal form unable to understand the wisdom of God constituted for the whole mankind

There are two distinct tenets in Islam

First is the COMMANDs of God and the second is his WILL

The COMMANDS are in the book of God as the law of nature

But his WILL can only be known through his WISDOM gained through intuition not through theoretical knowledge learnt outside

His WILL cannot be known by learning the tales and stories of prophets and sahabas

His Will cannot be known by learning the experience of prophets and sages

His Will cannot be known by believing and worshiping a God

HIS will cannot be known by reading sahih Buhary, Sahih Muslim, Tirmidi or narrations of Abu Huraira

His WILL cannot be known by repenting to forgive sins, supplications and earning the so called REWARDS and committing the sins and repenting again repeatedly as a routine

His WILL cannot be known affirming your belief or  by following rituals, reading the Quran , sajadah, ihthikaf, istigfarah, yakeen, ahlaq, fiqh or the pronouncement of kalima shahada because all these are religious commands, theories and principles

HIS WILL cannot be known by following the Sunnah of Prophet

God wants all mankind to do good and eschew evil but it is because of his WILL, the good and evil exist

However his WILL can only be known by SELF REALIZING (consciousness) your own self

His will is not confined to a community following Islam but to all mankind following humanity, CONSCIENCE and Righteousness

His WILL can be known by knowing the purpose of your birth

His WILL can be known by serving humanity

His WILL can be known by discovering the uniformity within the diversity (oneness)

HIS WILL can be known by discovering the truth

One day, every human being ( a believer or an atheist )before or after death (majority after death) consciously or unconsciously, religiously or irreligiously must arrive at the state of “Nirvana” , “Najat” , “Salvation” or “Mukthi”

There are three ways a humans (soul) journey (self realization)towards Allah (God)

The first is the way of ignorance, through which for example a human must travel. It is like a person walking for miles in the sun while carrying a heavy load on his shoulder, who, when fatigued, throws away the load and falls asleep under the shade of a tree. – Mathew 11.28

Such is the condition of an ignorant man who spends his life blindly under the influence of his senses (ego) and gathers the load of his evil actions, his unfulfilled desires on earth, his adversaries, infirmities, his enmity, the agonies of his earthly longings creating a hell through which he/she must pass to reach the destination of his journey. With regard to him the Quran says, ‘He who is blind in life, shall also be blind in the hereafter.

‘The next way is that of devotion, which is for true lovers.

Sufi mystic and poet Jalaaluddin Rumi said, ‘Man may be the lover of man or the lover of Allah (God) After his perfection in either he is taken before the King of LOVE.’

Devotion is the heavenly wine, which intoxicates the devotee until his heart becomes purified from all personal infirmities and there remains the happy vision of the Beloved, which lasts to the end of the journey.’Death is a bridge, which unites friend to friend’ (Sayings of Muhammed).

The third is the way of WISDOM, accomplished only by very few. The disciple disregards life’s momentary comforts, unties himself from all earthly bondage and turns his eyes toward Allah (God), inspired with divine wisdom. He gains command from his soul over his body, his thoughts and feelings, and is thereby enabled to create his own heaven within himself, that he may rejoice until merged into the eternal goal.

‘We have stripped the veil from thine eyes, and thy sight today is keen’, says the Qur’an

All humans choose their journey along one of these three paths, but in the end (before or after death) they arrive at one and the same goal.

As it is said in the Qur’an, ‘It is HE who multiplied you on the earth, and to HIM you shall be gathered – quran 67.24

I would like to give a message to the so called people labelled as Muslims by birth or who have claimed owned islam by birth, I mean inherited by birth or by the pronouncement of Sahada as their fundamental religious guideline and to the so called islamic scholars,

More than becoming a champion of comparative religion by narrating Buhary, Muslim and Tirmidi be wise to know the esoteric meaning of the Quran,  law of nature belong to all mankind

More than learning the man made laws literally interpreted in the Quran, compiled in Buhary, Muslim and Tirmidi written by Buhary, Muslim and Abu huraira claimed to be said by prophet Muhammed (pbuh) which has misled the entire Muslim world at large, learn the laws of nature of God (Allah) and be wise to know the uniformity within the diversity uniformity of all religions (oneness of God)
