Natasha Edirisuriya, who was hated by Buddhist extremists and false leftists, acquitted !

Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera today (19) ordered to acquit comedian  Natasha Edirisuraya and SL Vlog YouTube channel owner Bruno Divakara from the case filed against them for insulting Buddha and for airing the standup comedy containing the said statement.

Fort Magistrate Senadheera said that the Attorney General has informed the Fort Magistrate in writing that there is no sufficient evidence to prosecute the accused and that the accused will be acquitted in the relevant case on the advice of the Attorney General.

The officers of the Criminal Investigation Department, who handled the complaint, requested the Fort Magistrate to reconsider the order but Fort Magistrate Senadhira refused the request and said that the Attorney General had given clear instructions that the case could not be pursued and the Attorney General’s instructions could not be reconsidered.

The Magistrate said that the actions to be taken regarding those instructions should be informed in writing to the Attorney General within 14 days.

Edirisuriya was accused of insulting Lord Buddha in a comedy program called “Modabhimani” at Colombo Bishop’s College auditorium. Bruno Divakara, the owner of the SL vlog channel, was accused of aiding by airing the video containing the so called insulting comedy.

When the Buddhist extremists who were appalled by Natasha’s comedy threatened her. When Natasha tried to leave the country, she was arrested by the Computer Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport on 28 May 2023 midnight and Bruno Divakara was called to the CCD crime division to record a statement on 31 May 2023 and arrested.

Bruno was released on bail on 21 June 2023 and Natasha Edirisuriya was released on bail after filing a petition before the Colombo High Court on 5 July 2023

“Natasha Edirisuriya’s entire statement in the suspicious program does not appear to have targeted Buddhists and incited the audience with the aim of violence or enmity against them. Therefore, how was Article 3(1) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights Act (ICCPR) applied to this suspect? Stating that it is a serious problem, High Court Judge Aditya Patabedi granted bail to the suspect.

Both defendants appeared before the court today (19).

We asked the capitalist government to immediately release the Colombo activist Natasha Edirisura and we asked the public to support the freedom of arts, speech and expression of speech.

A protest was also held in front of the Fort Magistrate Court demanding the immediate release of Natasha and Bruno Divakara. On the same day hundreds of Sinhala Buddhist extremists requested the capitalist courts to execute Natasha.

“Recently there has been a big incident based on a story about Prince Sidhuhat by a certain woman. Whether it happens by accident or planned, it adds to those evil religious nationalistic goals. People should realize that these attempts are made to forget the real problems of the people”.

The Education Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party, Pubudu Jayagoda, unfolded his party’s views regarding the arrest of Natasha Edirisuriya before the media.

“Some spiritual things, some cultural things and religious sensibilities that the oppressed people believe have been attacked. He stated that it is a necessity of the ruling class, and Pastor Jerome and Natasha are going to fix this division between religions. He asked the people not to allow this to happen”
