A protest was held in front of the Ministry of Justice in Colombo yesterday to protest the release of a person who was sentenced and has other cases under the presidential pardon granted on the occasion of Vesak Poya.

The protest was organized by the Prisoners’ Rights Protection Movement.

All the slogans used for this protest were directed against the prison officers and the administration of that department.

Let’s free the prison from the clutches of thieves! Mr. President, won’t you clean the prison? We will not allow the prison junta to screw the president! Let’s punish the prison officers who exploited the presidential pardon and end the corrupt prison regime! The slogans were written on the billboards
