A close associate of Modara Poonkudikanna, who the police say is a powerful drug trafficker and underworld gang leader, was brought back to Sri Lanka from India by a group of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department on the 13th.

The person brought in was Balachandra Pushparaj Kushirosh. Police say that cases are pending against him in court for drug trafficking and murders. The suspect was arrested by the Indian police as a result of operations carried out to bring criminals with international red warrants to this country.

Accordingly, after being informed by the Indian police, the Criminal Investigation Department officers went to India and brought Balachandran Pushparaj to this country in the early hours of February 13.

Balachandran Pushparaj Kanna alias Podikanna is the elder brother of Balachandran Pushparaj Kushirosh. His brother-in-law is Podi Suresh. Police sources say that Balachandran Kanna and Podi Suresh are still hiding in India.
